Mercedes-Benz G-Class Edition 550, with sporty looks, goes official
German automaker Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the Edition 550 variant of its G-Class SUV in the US. Its production is limited to just 200 units. Under the hood, it is powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo, V8 engine that puts out 416hp of power.
Why does this story matter?
The limited-run Edition 550 model offers better looks as compared to the standard Mercedes-Benz G-Class. It should attract quite a lot of buyers in the US market who would want to add this beauty to their garage. However, the variant's arrival on our shores seems unlikely. If it does, the competition in the luxury SUV segment will be raised to a great extent.

It is flanked by squared windows, ORVMs, side-steppers, flared wheel arches, special badging behind the front wheel wells, and multi-spoke rims. A tailgate-mounted spare wheel and taillights grace the rear end. It is available in Jupiter Red, Moonlight White, and Arabian Gray shades.
It runs on a 416hp, 4.0-liter engine
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class Edition 550 draws power from a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo, V8 engine that makes 416hp/610Nm and is paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox with a 2-speed transfer case. The car can sprint from 0-96km/h in 5.6 seconds.
