German automaker Mercedes-Benz has revealed its EQS electric sedan. It is offered in two versions: EQS 450 and EQS 580. As for the highlights, the car has an eye-catching design and an upmarket cabin with a host of features including the brand's new digital Hyperscreen. It draws power from an electric powertrain that promises a range of 770km/charge. Here are more details.
The car has frameless doors
The Mercedes-Benz EQS is based on the brand's Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA) platform and features a "one-bow roofline," a fixed clamshell bonnet, a black grille, and angular headlamps connected by a horizontal light bar. It is flanked by frameless doors with flush handles, indicator-mounted ORVMs, and 19 to 22-inch alloy wheels. It has a length of 5,216mm and a wheelbase of 3,210mm.
The vehicle houses a MBUX Hyperscreen
The Mercedes-Benz EQS has a luxurious cabin featuring a near-flat floor, split-folding rear seats, a high-set center console that divides the front seats, and a 3-spoke multifunctional steering wheel. It debuts the company's 56.0-inch MBUX Hyperscreen system with support for over-the-air (OTA) software updates. For ensuring the passengers' safety, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, and a rear-view camera are available.
It has a top-speed of 210km/h
The EQS 450 has a single electric motor and generates 334hp/458Nm, while EQS 580 comes with two motors and makes 523hp/856Nm. Both the variants are paired to a 107.8kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. The car clocks a top-speed of 210km/h and delivers a 770km range. The EQS 450 can sprint from 0-100km/h in 6.2 seconds, while the 580 can do so in 4.3 seconds.
Mercedes-Benz EQS: Pricing and availability
The Mercedes-Benz EQS is expected to make its way to India in early-2022. As far as pricing is concerned, it might carry a starting price-tag of around £80,000 (approximately Rs. 80.6 lakh) in the UK.
