Mercedes-AMG SL43 roadster, with F1 engine technology, goes official
German automaker Mercedes-Benz has revealed the entry-level version of its SL-Class roadster, called the AMG SL43. As for the highlights, the car has a head-turning look and a luxurious cabin with several tech-based features, including the latest MBUX system. It draws power from a 2.0-liter, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine with F1-sourced technology and can sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds.
Why does this story matter?
The Mercedes-AMG SL43 uses an electric exhaust gas turbocharger, which makes it the first production vehicle to do so. Its good looks and excellent performance should make it appealing to buyers in the global markets. If the car arrives on our shores, it will be a completely built unit (CBU). The rivalry in the luxury four-wheeler segment will also be raised.
The car has a chromed grille and four exhaust tips
Mercedes-AMG SL43 has a sculpted bonnet, a chromed grille with vertical slats, revised air vents, a prominent front splitter, a fabric roof, and swept-back LED headlights. On the sides, it is flanked by door-mounted ORVMs and spoked wheels with sizes ranging between 19-inch to 21-inch. Wrap-around taillamps, oval-shaped quad exhaust tips, and 'SL43' badging are available on the rear end of the car.
It attains a top-speed of 275km/h
Mercedes-AMG SL43 is fueled by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine linked to an electric exhaust gas turbocharger and a 9-speed MCT gearbox. The setup delivers 381hp/480Nm and allows the car to sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds. It also hits a top-speed of 275km/h.
The roadster gets four seats and a flat-bottom steering wheel
Mercedes-AMG SL43 has a luxurious cabin with four seats, circular AC vents, a large center console that divides the driver and passenger areas, and a multifunctional flat-bottom steering wheel. It houses a Burmester sound system, a digital driver's display, and an 11.9-inch MBUX touchscreen infotainment system. The safety of the passengers is ensured by multiple airbags, automated emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

The pricing and availability details of the Mercedes-AMG SL43 in the US will be disclosed at the time of its launch. However, it is expected to carry a price-tag of around $135,000 (roughly Rs. 1 crore).
