Mercedes-Benz has introduced the new AMG S 63 E Performance, the top-tier variant of the S-Class range, in India. The latest model is priced at ₹3.30 crore (ex-showroom) and is touted as the most potent version of the S-Class to date. It features a plug-in hybrid 4.0-liter V8 engine, marking Mercedes's second plug-in hybrid offering in India after the GT63 S E Performance.
Power and performance details of AMG S 63 E Performance
The AMG S 63 E Performance is equipped with a familiar 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, paired with a 13.1kWh battery and an electric motor on the rear axle. The electric motor alone generates 190hp and 320Nm of torque, while the total system output stands at an impressive 802hp and 1,430Nm. This makes it the most powerful S-Class ever produced. Mercedes has stated that this advanced battery technology is derived from their Formula 1 division.
AMG S 63 E Performance's transmission, speed, and drive modes
The engine of the AMG S 63 E Performance is paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox, delivering power to all four wheels via the 4MATIC system. The vehicle boasts a 'Race Start' function that optimizes launch from a standstill, enabling a sprint time of just 3.3 seconds from 0-100km/h. It offers eight drive modes, including an all-electric mode that can deliver up to 33km range with a speed limiter set at 125km/h.
Design and interior features of AMG S 63 E Performance
The S 63 E Performance showcases AMG-specific updates over the regular S-Class, including a Panamericana grille with a centrally mounted Mercedes logo, a first for an S-Class. It also features a sportier front bumper with large air intakes and an AMG-spec rear diffuser with quad exhaust pipes. Inside, drivers will find a new four-spoke AMG steering wheel and AMG-spec pedals. The latest MBUX software includes AMG and hybrid-specific displays and functions, along with an exclusive "Super Sport" theme.

Standard equipment in the AMG S 63 E Performance includes a Burmester 3D surround sound system, four-zone climate control, and Level 2 ADAS suite. Mercedes is also offering an exclusive S63 E Performance Edition 1 variant priced at ₹3.80 crore. This limited-run edition features unique exterior and interior updates such as Manufaktur Alpine Grey exterior paint shade, matte black forged AMG wheels, red calipers, black Nappa leather upholstery with red stitching, and an 'Edition 1' plaque on the center console.
