Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series launched to celebrate AMG's 55 years
Mercedes-AMG has taken the wraps off its most powerful customer car yet, the GT Track Series. The track-only machine is launched to celebrate 55 years of AMG. The automaker has made only 55 units of the car, each piece costing €369,900 (around Rs. 3.09 crore). Under the hood, it is powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo, V8 engine that generates a maximum power of 734hp.
Why does this story matter?
Mercedes-AMG is not one to let important moments pass without some fanfare. Therefore, to mark their 55th anniversary, the Affalterbach-based company released not one, but two cars. The GT Track Series is what the company wanted its road-ready GT Black Series to be. Now, without any road-related restrictions to stop them, they went all out and created something we won't forget for a while.
The car has a semi-glossy silver body with red accents
Mercedes-AMG GT Track series features a Hightech Silver Magno body with red accents sprayed around, a sculpted hood with AMG logo, a huge Pan Americana radiator grille, and a high downforce front splitter. The car weighs only 1,400kg due to the high usage of carbon fiber and rides on 18-inch forged wheels. An adjustable wing and double diffuser grace the rear end.
A 734hp, 4.0-liter engine powers the car
Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series is powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo, V8 engine that churns out a maximum power of 734hp and a peak torque of 850Nm. The motor is linked to a Hewland HLS 6-speed sequential racing transmission.
The car has a sporty cabin that meets FIA standards
Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series has a stripped interior that meets the latest FIA standards with an integrated high-strength steel roll cage, a five-point safety harness and safety nets for the driver, bucket seats, a racing-inspired steering wheel with a multitude of customizable buttons, a fire extinguisher, and an escape hatch on the roof. The car also packs a Bosch-made DDU 11 Driver Display unit.
