Maruti Suzuki Jimny to be launched in India by November
Maruti Suzuki Jimny, the much-awaited iconic off-roader by Japanese automaker, is likely to be launched in India by November 2020, according to a report. The report has also claimed that the car would be sold in the country via Maruti Suzuki ARENA dealerships. To recall, the Jimny was recently unveiled in India at the Auto Expo 2020. Here are more details.
The India-specific Jimny could be a five-door variant
Notably, the Jimny Sierra will be sold in India via Maruti Suzuki ARENA showrooms instead of NEXA dealerships that are known for company's premium products. So, it is expected that the Japanese automaker would bring the car with some cost-cutting measures. That said, there are chances that the India-specific Jimny could be a five-door variant as against the three-door model sold in international markets.
Meanwhile, here's what the Maruti Suzuki Jimny offers
Maruti Suzuki Jimny comes with an iconic old-school look featuring a blacked-out vertical-slat grille, square-ish wheel arches as well as windows, and rounded LED headlamps. The off-roader gets a sporty stance with a neat side profile, a decent ground clearance, and a minimalistic rear profile with spare wheel mounted on the tailgate.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny offers a minimalistic cabin with fabric upholstery, automatic climate control, and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel with cruise control. The car offers a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Moreover, it gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, speed alert system, and driver-centric features like hill hold and hill descent control, among others.
And, here's a look at the powertrain
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny draws power from a 1.5-liter petrol engine that comes mated to a 5-speed manual or an automatic gearbox that sends power to all the wheels. The unit is capable of producing 102bhp of maximum power and 130Nm of peak torque.
