Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (facelift) set to arrive by mid-April
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch a facelifted version of the Ertiga MPV in India soon. Now, Autocar India has tipped that the car will make its debut in the country by mid-April. The upcoming iteration of the four-wheeler is not expected to have major exterior or interior updates. Under the hood, however, it will see some big changes.
Why does this story matter?
We have been hearing about a facelifted Maruti Suzuki Ertiga since last year. Finally, it seems that the time has arrived for the MPV to be introduced with some long-overdue updates. And with the new XL6's launch not far behind, prepare yourself for a double "MPV" punch from the company. The new Ertiga will take on rivals such as Mahindra Marazzo and Kia Carens.
The MPV will sport a Baleno-like grille
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (facelift) will feature a muscular bonnet, a redesigned Baleno-like grille with a mesh pattern, twin-pod headlamps, fog lamps on the bumper, a blacked-out air dam, and a power antenna. It will be flanked by indicator-mounted ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, and designer alloy wheels. A window wiper, a high-mounted stop lamp, and L-shaped wrap-around taillights will grace the rear end.
The MPV will run on a new 1.5-liter engine
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (facelift) will be powered by a more fuel-efficient 1.5-liter petrol engine. The mill will be mated to a new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox instead of the aging 4-speed gearbox.
The car will not get any major interior updates
Details about the interior of the Maruti Suzuki (facelift) are scarce as of now. However, we do not expect any significant changes on that front. It is likely to offer the same 7-seater cabin but with new interior trims and upholstery options. It should house an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment console. For safety, it should provide multiple airbags, ABS, and a 360-degree-view camera.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (facelift): Pricing and availability
The facelifted Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is expected to carry a premium over the outgoing model, which starts at Rs. 8.12 lakh (ex-showroom). The official pricing and availability details will be announced by the company at the time of its launch. (Source: Autocar India)
