Unofficial bookings for Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG open; launch soon
Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the CNG variant of its Dzire compact sedan in India soon. It should be offered in two trims: VXi and ZXi. In the latest development, unofficial bookings of the car have started at select dealerships. The four-wheeler will look similar to the standard model and will be fueled by a 1.2-liter Dualjet engine.
Why does this story matter?
Maruti Suzuki Dzire is quite a popular car in India. The introduction of a CNG variant should raise its appeal in the market as fuel costs continue to rise. The new variant is expected to be priced competitively in our market and should attract many buyers. It will take on rivals such as the recently launched Tata Tigor iCNG.
The car will have LED headlights and 15-inch wheels
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG will have a sloping roofline, a muscular bonnet, a hexagonal grille with chrome elements, swept-back LED headlights, and fog lamps. On the sides, it will be flanked by blacked-out B-pillars, ORVMs, sharp body lines, and 15-inch alloy wheels. A raked windscreen and wrap-around LED taillamps will be available on the rear end of the car.
It will draw power from a 1.2-liter Dualjet engine
The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire variant should run on a 1.2-liter Dualjet engine linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. In petrol guise, the mill makes a maximum power of 89hp and a peak torque of 113Nm.
The sedan will get 2 airbags and 5 seats
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG is likely to have a spacious 5-seater cabin, featuring auto climate control, key-less entry, parking sensors, and a multifunctional steering wheel with cruise control. It will pack a touchscreen infotainment system with support for the latest connectivity facilities. ABS, crash sensors, two airbags, a rear-view camera, and an engine immobilizer should ensure the safety of the passengers.
How much will it cost?
In India, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire starts at Rs. 6.09 lakh and goes up to Rs. 9.13 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, New Delhi). The CNG variants are expected to carry a slight premium over the standard car.
