Mahindra XUV.e9 electric SUV spotted undergoing road tests: Expected features
Mahindra's XUV.e9, an electric SUV, has been spotted on the road for testing once again. The vehicle was seen in a tightly wrapped camouflage, offering a sneak peek into the production-ready model's overall shape. The images revealed key features such as a large fascia with vertically stacked taillamps, big wheels with aerodynamic spats, and a unique curved lightbar at the rear.
XUV.e9: Mahindra's first electric coupe SUV
The XUV.e9 is set to be Mahindra's first electric coupe SUV, following the release of the XUV700-based XUV.e8 later this year. The vehicle's unique shape is defined by a sturdy C-pillar, flowing into the trunk lid. The Tata Curvv EV will be the market's first electric coupe SUV, but the XUV.e9 will pioneer a higher price bracket, potentially influencing other manufacturers to adopt similar body styles.
XUV.e9 to feature a dashboard-wide digital display
The XUV.e9 will be among the first Mahindra cars to feature a dashboard-wide digital screen that integrates infotainment, car functions, and an instrument cluster. Spy images suggest an all-black cabin and a new Mahindra two-spoke steering wheel. These elements are also expected to be included in the upcoming XUV.e8 model. The vehicle is anticipated to offer a range of over 500km and multiple fast charging options.
Mahindra's EV strategy and market competition
Mahindra has outlined ambitious plans for electric vehicles in its future lineup, as part of its EV offensive strategy. The XUV.e9, with its electrifying camouflage wrap signifying its pure electric powertrain, is a key model in this lineup. Both the XUV.e9 and the XUV.e8 will be important parts of Mahindra's BE range of electric cars. Upon launch, the XUV.e9 will take on rivals like the Tata Curvv EV, marking a new trend in India's passenger vehicle and electric car market.
