Mahindra XUV700 bags over 1L orders; waiting period exceeds 6-months
Mahindra has received over one lakh bookings for its XUV700 SUV in just a period of four months. The car was launched in October 2021 and it had bagged more than 50,000 bookings in just three hours after the bookings were opened online. The waiting period for the premium SUV continues to climb due to the overwhelming number of orders and the semi-conductor crisis.
Why does this story matter?
Veejay Nakra, CEO of Mahindra and Mahindra, has said that the "supply of semi-conductors will continue to be an issue and we don't see signs of normalcy till the next 6-9 months." Keeping its promise, Mahindra has delivered 14,000 units of XUV700 by January this year. It currently has a waiting period of over six months and that will not come down anytime soon.
The XUV700 flaunts 18-inch alloy wheels
The Mahindra XUV700 sports a sculpted bonnet with a satin-chrome slat grille, a blacked-out air intake, and C-shaped LED headlamps with LED DRLs. The side profile flaunts roof rails, indicator-mounted ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, smart door handles, and diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels. The rear is graced by a shark fin antenna, a window wiper, arrow-shaped LED taillamps, and a roof-mounted spoiler.
The SUV is offered with two engine options
The Mahindra XUV700 runs on a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that puts out 197.13hp of power and 380Nm of peak torque and a 2.2-liter turbo-diesel engine available in three different tunes: 152.87hp/360Nm, 182.38hp/420Nm, and 182.38hp/450Nm. The mill is fitted to a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
It has a 10.25-inch infotainment system
The Mahindra XUV700 has a spacious 5/7-seater cabin with adaptive cruise control, a multifunctional power steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, and automatic climate control. It is fitted with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The safety of the passengers is ensured by seven airbags, ABS with EBD, a rear-view camera, and crash sensors.
Mahindra XUV700: Pricing
The Mahindra XUV700 starts at Rs. 12.95 lakh for the MX (petrol) variant and goes up to Rs. 23.79 lakh for the top-end AX7 AT Luxury Pack AWD (diesel) model (both prices, ex-showroom, New Delhi).
