Mahindra Scorpio N gets new blacked-out 'Carbon Edition' for ₹19L
What's the story
Homegrown automaker Mahindra has launched the Scorpio N Carbon Edition SUV in India. Its price starts at ₹19.19 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new variant is offered only for the Z8 and Z8L versions of the popular off-roader.
The highlight of this model is its all-black exterior and interior design, making it different from the regular trims of the four-wheeler.

A closer look at the design
The Scorpio N Carbon Edition stands out with its minimal chrome usage around the body.
The door handles and window side molding, which are chromed in other variants, now have a blacked-out finish.
This dark theme is also carried over to the 17-inch alloy wheels and roof rails.
The interior follows the pitch-black philosophy with a black dashboard and leatherette seats.

Interior and seating arrangement
The interior of the Scorpio N Carbon Edition also gets black roof liner and door trims.
This variant is offered only in a seven-seat configuration, without any changes to its feature list.
Amenities include an 8.0-inch touchscreen, sunroof, multiple driving modes, dual-zone AC, 12 speakers and six airbags.
It is priced at a ₹20,000 premium over standard Scorpio N variants.
Performance
A look at the powertrains
The Scorpio N Carbon Edition offers the same engine options as its standard siblings.
These include a 203hp, 2.0-liter turbo-petrol and a 175hp, 2.2-liter diesel engine.
Both mills can be mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
However, the four-wheel drive (4WD) option is only available with the diesel powertrain.
Rivalry
Pricing and market competition
The Scorpio N Carbon Edition costs between ₹19.19 lakh and ₹24.89 lakh for all Z8 and Z8L variants. This includes petrol and diesel mills with manual and automatic transmissions.
In terms of market competition, it directly takes on the Tata Harrier Dark Edition, which is priced between ₹19.14 lakh and ₹26.24 lakh. (all prices, ex-showroom).
The Mahindra SUV also takes on Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Hyundai CRETA, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Volkswagen Taigun.
