Lotus Eletre, with 600km range, goes official: Check top features
British automaker Lotus has revealed its Eletre crossover SUV. Its deliveries will begin in the international markets in 2023. As for the highlights, the vehicle has a futuristic look, a luxurious tech-forward cabin, and is capable of "end-to-end autonomous driving." It is propelled by an electric powertrain and promises a range of around 600km on a single charge.
Why does this story matter?
The Eletre is Lotus's first car to be manufactured in Wuhan, China, and introduces a new platform intended for "lifestyle" vehicles. The four-wheeler rivals the Tesla Model X and is likely to attract a lot of buyers in the global markets. If the car makes its way to India, the rivalry in the electric four-wheeler segment will be raised.
The car has four LiDAR sensors and split-style headlamps
Lotus Eletre has a grille with interconnected triangular pieces that open when the motors and battery pack need cooling, cameras instead of ORVMs, 22/23-inch wheels, split-style headlights, and a full-width taillamp that can change colors. It sports four pop-out LiDAR sensors: two on the roof, one above the windscreen, and one above the rear glass. Dimensions-wise, the car is 5,103mm long and 1,999mm wide.
It attains a top-speed of 260km/h
Lotus Eletre packs two electric motors linked to a battery with a capacity of over 100kWh. The setup generates 600hp of power and allows the car to sprint from 0-100km/h in less than three seconds. It has a top-speed of 260km/h and a 600km range.
The vehicle gets an AR head-up display and glass roof
Lotus Eletre has a four/five-seater cabin with a panoramic glass roof, a 15-speaker surround-sound audio system, a head-up display with augmented reality, a large center console, sports seats with a wool blend fabric trim, and a flat-bottom multifunctional steering wheel. It houses a 1.18-inch strip instead of an instrument panel and a 15.1-inch landscape-oriented touchscreen infotainment system with support for over-the-air updates.
Lotus Eletre: Pricing and availability
In the US, the Lotus Eletre electric SUV is expected to carry a starting price-tag of around $120,000 (roughly Rs. 91 lakh). It will be up for grabs in the country from 2024 onward.
