Suzuki Jimny Heritage Special Edition breaks cover: Check top features
While the Jimny is yet to reach the Indian shores officially, the compact offroader is quite popular in the European and Australian markets. To celebrate the model's illustrious past, Japanese carmaker Suzuki has unveiled a "Heritage Special Edition" version with retro-inspired decals, red mudflaps, and four color schemes namely Black Pearl, Jungle Green, White, and Medium Gray. Only 300 units will be produced.
Why does this story matter?
First appearing in the late 1970s as a compact off-road vehicle, the Jimny is touted as one of the most efficient SUVs in the world with its retro-inspired yet functional design and no-nonsense four-wheel-drive (4WD) system. It gained popularity for its compact dimensions and go-anywhere ability. A practical five-door version of the rugged off-roader is set to make its way to India soon.
The SUV flaunts red-colored mudflaps and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel
The Suzuki Jimny Heritage Special Edition is only available in a three-door version. The SUV flaunts a clamshell bonnet, round LED headlamp units, a blacked-out grille with vertical slats, squared-out ORVMs, flared wheel arches with black cladding, five-spoke alloy wheels, retro-inspired decals, and red-colored mudflaps. Bumper-mounted taillights, a roof-mounted antenna, and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel are available at the rear end.
It is backed by a 1.5-liter, K-series petrol engine
Limited-run Suzuki Jimny Heritage Special Edition draws power from a 1.5-liter, inline-four, K-series petrol engine that is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox with the brand's "AllGrip" four-wheel-drive system. The mill generates a maximum power of 103hp and a peak torque of 134Nm.
The car features an all-black dashboard and premium fabric upholstery
On the inside, the Suzuki Jimny Heritage Special Edition gets a spacious four-seater cabin and features an all-black dashboard, a "Jimny Heritage" cargo tray, a special limited-run badging, premium fabric upholstery, automatic climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The SUV packs a semi-digital instrument cluster and an infotainment panel with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Passengers' safety is ensured by multiple airbags.
