Lexus LF-ZL concept SUV, with stylish looks, breaks cover
At the ongoing Japan Mobility Show, Lexus has taken the wraps off the LF-ZL concept. The high-end electric SUV boasts cutting-edge technology and promises a "personalized" experience. The Japanese automaker is yet to disclose when the flagship EV will enter the production stage. For reference, the production model of the LF-ZC coupe concept, which was showcased at the event alongside the LF-ZL, is anticipated to arrive in 2026.
The concept borrows design cues from the RX electric SUV
The LF-ZL concept borrows design cues from the existing RZ electric SUV while establishing a fresh look and identity for the brand. It showcases a revamped grille at the front and a streamlined SUV body with an elongated hood and spacious, rounded cabin that tapers to a compact rear end. Its cabin can be accessed through wide-opening front doors and sliding-type rear doors. Inside, it features a driver-centric dashboard with a yoke-style steering wheel flanked by two digital control panels.
It will be underpinned by Toyota's advanced modular electric platform
Measuring 5,300mm long, 2,200mm wide, and 1,700mm tall, the LF-ZL concept has a wheelbase of 3,350mm to optimize cabin space. It is built on Toyota's advanced modular electric platform, which allows for versatility in dimensions, design, and powertrain configurations. This platform divides vehicles into three sections (ront, center, and rear) using a gigacasting production method. EVs built on this platform will move autonomously through each stage of a "self-driving assembly line," powered by their own batteries and motors.
