Kia EV6 electric crossover to debut in India by June
Kia Motors will launch its EV6 car in India by June, an Autocar report has claimed. It is already available in the global markets. As for the highlights, the four-wheeler bears a head-turning look and offers a luxurious cabin with a bevy of tech-based features. It gets an option of two battery packs and delivers a range of up to 500km per charge.
Why does this story matter?
The EV6 is Kia's first all-electric car and it is based on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) architecture. The four-wheeler offers great looks, performance and takes on rivals like Tesla Model Y and Volkswagen ID.4 in the global markets. In India, the model will debut as a completely built unit (CBU) and the competition in the electric four-wheeler segment will be significantly increased.
The car sports a clamshell hood and 19-inch wheels
Kia EV6 has a clamshell bonnet, sleek grille, wide air vent, and large LED headlamps with LED DRLs that form the vehicle's 'Digital Tiger Face.' It is flanked by indicator-mounted ORVMs, black B-pillars, sharp body lines, and 19-inch designer alloy wheels. A shark-fin antenna, a narrow taillight spanning the width of the four-wheeler, and a raked windshield are available on the rear end.
It can sprint from 0-96km/h in 5.1 seconds
Kia EV6 is available with a choice of 58kWh and 77.4kWh batteries. The larger battery is paired with two motors and puts out 320hp/604Nm. The powertrain allows the car to accelerate from 0-96km/h in 5.1 seconds and promises a range of up to 500km.
The vehicle gets 2-spoke steering wheel and AR head-up display
Kia EV6 has an eight-way adjustable driver's seat, a leather-wrapped two-spoke steering wheel, a 16-speaker Meridian sound system, an augmented reality head-up display, and a wireless charger. Multiple airbags, High Beam Assist, and Lane Keep Assist ensure the safety of the passengers. It also packs a dual screen setup for the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment panel.
Kia EV6: Pricing and availability
Kia will reveal the availability and pricing details of the EV6 car in India at the time of its debut. However, in the US, the model carries a starting price-tag of $40,900 (around Rs. 31.2 lakh).
