Tata Altroz (automatic) to be launched on March 21
Tata Motors has announced that the automatic variant of the Altroz hatchback will debut in India on March 21. To recall, its bookings had started earlier this month. The model will come with a dual-clutch automatic (DCA) transmission and shall be offered in XT, XZ, and XZ+ trims. However, its design and features will be identical to the manual versions.
Why does this story matter?
The Tata Altroz is the second most selling hatchback in India after the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. However, it is only up for grabs with a manual gearbox. The introduction of an automatic variant will surely raise its appeal in the market and attract a lot of customers. It is tipped to be priced competitively on our shores.
The car has 16-inch wheels and projector headlamps
The Tata Altroz has a sculpted bonnet, a chrome-lined grille, a wide air vent, and swept-back projector headlights with DRLs. It is flanked by blacked-out B-pillars, ORVMs, and 16-inch alloy wheels. As for the dimensions, the car has a wheelbase of 2,501mm and a ground clearance of 165mm. The DCA variant will be up for grabs in a new Opera Blue exterior shade.
The automatic variant will be fueled by 1.2-liter petrol engine
The manual version of Tata Altroz gets three engine options. However, the automatic variant will run on a 1.2-liter, naturally-aspirated, petrol engine that generates 85hp/113Nm. Transmission duties will be taken care of by a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The hatchback gets five seats and two airbags
The Tata Altroz has a spacious 5-seater cabin with a Harman stereo system, auto climate control, cruise control, key-less entry, a push start/stop button, and a power steering wheel. It houses a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The safety of the passengers is ensured by a reverse parking camera, two airbags, ABS, and crash sensors.
Tata Altroz DCA: Pricing and availability
Tata Motors will disclose the pricing and availability details of the Altroz DCA in India at the upcoming launch event. However, it should bear a starting price-tag of around Rs. 9 lakh (ex-showroom), and its deliveries will commence by the end of this month.
