BMW i4 to be launched in India on April 28
German automaker BMW will unveil its i4 sedan in India on April 28. To recall, it is already up for grabs in the global markets. As for the highlights, the car has a head-turning look and a luxurious cabin with a variety of tech-based features. It is fueled by an electric powertrain and promises a range of up to 590km per charge.
Why does this story matter?
The i4 is an electric version of the 4 Series Gran Coupe. It will be the BMW Group's third EV in India after the MINI Cooper SE hatchback and the iX SUV. The i4's good looks, long list of features, and excellent performance will surely appeal to a lot of buyers here. Also, the competition in the luxury four-wheeler segment will be raised.
The car has 20-inch wheels and closed kidney grille
The BMW i4 flaunts a sloping roofline, a muscular bonnet, a closed kidney grille, narrow headlights, and blue accents. It is flanked by frameless doors with handles integrated into the recess, sharp body lines, and 20-inch M light-alloy wheels. Wrap-around taillamps and a shark-fin antenna grace the rear end. It produces an electric sound created by music composer Hans Zimmer.
The sedan gets ventilated seats and a BMW Curved Display
BMW i4 has a cabin with a Harman Kardon sound system, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, a multifunctional steering wheel, and automatic climate control. Multiple airbags and a suite of driver assistance features ensure the safety of the passengers. It also houses a BMW Curved Display, which integrates a 14.6-inch infotainment panel and a 12.3-inch driver's display. The setup runs on BMW's iDrive 8 UI.
The M50 model sprints from 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds
In global markets, the BMW i4 is offered in eDrive40 and M50 variants, both of which are linked to an 83.9kWh battery. The former makes 339.2hp of power, sprints from 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds, and promises a range of up to 590km per charge. The M50 generates 543.4hp of power, delivers a range of up to 510km, and accelerates from 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds.
BMW i4: Pricing and availability
In India, the BMW i4 electric sedan is expected to be launched by the end of May. The premium vehicle is likely to carry a starting price-tag of around Rs. 80 lakh (ex-showroom).
