KTM India's domestic sales decline by 18% in March
KTM experienced a sales dip in India this March. This decline was evident both in domestic sales and exports. Renowned for its wide range of sporty street-fighter, fully-faired, and adventure bikes, the company's domestic sales for the month stood at 5,156 units, marking a decrease of 17.95% from the 6,284 units sold in March 2023. However, compared to February 2024's sales of 4,626 units, there was an increase of 11.46%.
KTM 200cc range defies downward trend
Interestingly, the only model to defy this downward trend within the KTM range was the 200cc lineup. In March 2024, it registered a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 3.70% and month-on-month (MoM) growth of 16.95%, selling a total of 3,023 units. This model accounted for a significant market share of 58.63%. The success of the 200cc range stands in stark contrast to the overall sales performance of KTM in March.
250cc range saw 30% YoY decline
The company's 250cc range saw a YoY decline of 30.20%, but managed to achieve a MoM growth of 25.60%, with sales reaching 1,197 units in March 2024. The 390 range faced more significant challenges with a YoY decrease of 38.33% and MoM decrease of 14.66%, selling only 745 units domestically in March. It had sold 1,208 units in March 2023 and 873 units in February 2024. The latest figures highlight the varying performance across different models within the KTM lineup.
Export figures took a hit, 390cc range saw highest exports
KTM's export figures also took a hit both YoY and MoM by 3.21% and 19.85%, respectively, totaling at 5,486 units. This compared to previous year's figure of 5,668 units and this February's figure of around 6,854 units. Despite the overall decline, KTM's global markets saw the highest sales from the 390cc range. In March 2024, there were 2,994 units of the 390 exported, marking a YoY growth of 19.95% and commanding a market share of 54.58%.
