KTM 790 Duke launched in India at Rs. 8.64 lakh
After a bunch of leaks and speculations, KTM India has finally launched its much anticipated 790 Duke in India. Nicknamed as the 'Scalpel', the flagship sports tourer is priced at Rs. 8.64 lakh in the country. Notably, the bookings for the motorcycle are live via company's dealerships at a token amount ranging from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000. Here's our roundup.
KTM 790 Duke: At a glance
The KTM 790 Duke features a naked sporty look with carbon fiber fairings and dual-tone paint job. The motorcycle comes with a muscular looking fuel tank, split seats as well as headlamp, and blacked out alloy wheels. Furthermore, it sports a fully digital instrument console and an all-LED lighting setup for headlamp, turn indicators, and taillamp.
Power and performance
The KTM 790 Duke is powered by a 799cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin, DOHC engine which is capable of producing 105PS of maximum power and 87Nm of peak torque. For transmission duties, the bike gets a six-speed manual gearbox and a bi-directional quickshifter as standard.
KTM 790 Duke: On the road
The KTM 790 Duke comes equipped with disc brakes on both wheels along with dual-channel ABS and 9-level traction control for better road handling. The motorcycle also gets advanced electronic features including four riding modes, launch as well as wheelie control, and engine brake control. Further, it houses upside-down (USD) forks up front and a monoshock unit on the rear to handle suspension duties.

In India, the KTM 790 Duke is priced at Rs. 8.64 lakh. The motorcycle arrives in the country via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route and will be sold in limited numbers. Lastly, it goes up against rivals such as Suzuki GSX-S750 and Kawasaki Z900.
