Kia Tasman, brand's first pick-up truck, to launch in 2025
Kia is preparing to make its debut in the pick-up truck market with its first-ever model, the Tasman. The global launch of this new vehicle is scheduled for 2025. The Tasman will compete in the C-segment pick-up truck category, marking a significant milestone for the automaker. It will be available in several markets, including Australia, Africa, South Korea, and the Middle East. The pickup truck will compete against Hyundai Santa Cruz, Ford Ranger, and Volkswagen Amarok.
Three powertrains are expected
Limited information is available regarding Kia's new pickup truck. It's anticipated to feature a 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Rumors suggest Kia may also offer Tasman with a 2.5-liter turbo petrol engine and hybrid powertrain. Since it's a pickup truck, it will likely offer all-wheel drive system, along with potential features such as differential locks and a low-range gearbox. Kia may also introduce a V6 powertrain for a high-performance variant in the future.
Indian launch yet to be confirmed
The Tasman, according to Kia's official statement, is designed to offer a unique blend of work-centric functionality and lifestyle-focused versatility. This dual-purpose approach aims to cater to a wide range of consumers, from those needing a reliable work vehicle to those seeking a versatile lifestyle companion. Kia has been testing the pick-up truck for quite some time now in Australia. As of now, there is no confirmation whether the manufacturer will bring the Tasman to India or not.
