Kia Seltos launched in India, starts at Rs. 9.69 lakh
South Korean automaker Kia Motors has debuted in India with its all-new compact SUV, Kia Seltos. Starting at Rs. 9.69 lakh, Seltos comes with a bunch of segment-first features such as air purifier, Heads Up Display, and Bose sound system. Further, the premium crossover is offered in Tech Line and GT Line trims and each of the trims are available in five variants.
Let's take a look at the all-new Kia Seltos
The Kia Seltos features a premium sporty look with a big cascading grille, a trapezoidal air-intake housed in a chrome frame, and dual-exhausts. The crossover sports sleek LED headlamps with DRLs, LED fog lamps, indicator-mounted electronically adjustable ORVMs, and LED taillights. Notably, the chrome work on alloy wheels, door handles as well as chrome garnishing on the tailgate adds more premiumness to the car.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the Kia Seltos sports a dual-tone cabin and comes with a host of segment-first features like ventilated front seats, smart air purifier system, and a blind view monitor. The crossover features an 8-inch Heads Up Display, 10.25-inch infotainment system, and an eight-speaker Bose sound system with mood lighting. It also gets other handy features like wireless charging, automatic climate control, and ambient lighting.
And, what about the engine?
The Kia Seltos is offered in three BS6-compliant engine options: 1.4-liter petrol, 1.5-liter petrol, and a 1.5-liter diesel. The 1.4-liter T-GDI petrol unit churns out 138bhp of power and 242Nm of peak torque, while the 1.5-liter petrol mill makes 113bhp power and 144Nm peak torque. Separately, the 1.5-liter CRDI diesel engine produces 113bhp of power and 250Nm of peak torque.
Transmission and fuel efficiency
For handling transmission duties, all the three engines get standard six-speed manual gearbox along with the optional automatic transmission. The petrol engines promise a mileage of upto 16.8kmpl, while the diesel unit has a claimed fuel-efficiency of upto 21kmpl.
Kia Seltos: On the road
The Kia Seltos comes equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels along with ABS, EBD, ESP, and traction control for better road handling. The crossover gets dual front airbags (six airbags on top models), rear parking sensors along with a 360-degree camera for parking assistance. It also offers three driving modes - Normal, Eco and Sport.
Interestingly, Kia Seltos offers smart connectivity features
One of the most interesting features of the Kia Seltos is its UVO connect feature wherein you get 37 car connectivity options like geo-fencing, remote engine start with AC control, emergency assistance, navigation, tire pressure monitoring system, and more.
Finally, what will be the pocket pinch?
In India, Kia Seltos starts at Rs. 9.69 lakh for the entry-level variant and goes upto Rs. 15.99 lakh for the top-end model. The crossover has received over 23,000 bookings so far and the deliveries are expected to commence soon. Lastly, it will lock horns with other compact SUVs like MG Hector, Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, and Jeep Compass Trailhawk.
