Select variants of Kia Seltos and Carnival discontinued in India
South Korean automaker Kia Motors has discontinued the mid-spec HTK+ AT (diesel) model of the Seltos SUV and the base-end Premium (7-seater) trim of the Carnival MPV in India. As for the highlights, the two cars have sporty looks and upmarket cabins with lots of tech-based features. They are available with a choice of BS6-compliant petrol as well as diesel engines.
Why does this story matter?
The combination of a diesel engine and automatic gearbox is now limited to the GTX+ and X-Line variants of the Kia Seltos. Meanwhile, the base price of the Carnival MPV has gone up, too. The former takes on rivals such as the SKODA KUSHAQ, MG Hector, and Volkswagen Taigun, while the Carnival goes against the Toyota Innova on our shores.
The cars have LED headlamps and roof rails
The Kia Seltos and Carnival have a muscular bonnet, a chrome-finished grille, a wide air dam, and narrow LED headlights with DRLs. On the sides, they are flanked by roof rails, blacked-out B-pillars, ORVMs, and alloy wheels. A shark-fin antenna, a window wiper, and wrap-around taillamps grace the rear end. They have a wheelbase of 2,610mm and 3,060mm, respectively.
They run on petrol and diesel engines
Kia Seltos runs on a 1.5-liter diesel engine that makes 113.4hp/250Nm, a 1.5-liter petrol mill that generates 113.4hp/144Nm, and a 1.4-liter turbo-petrol motor that churns out 138hp/242Nm. The Carnival is fueled by a 2.2-liter diesel unit that produces 197.2hp of power and 440Nm of torque.
The vehicles get a rear-view camera and touchscreen infotainment console
The Kia Seltos and Carnival have spacious cabins, featuring auto climate control, rear AC vents, parking sensors, key-less entry, and a multifunctional power steering wheel with cruise control. They house a touchscreen infotainment console with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Multiple airbags, a rear-view camera, EBD, crash sensors, an engine immobilizer, and a tire pressure monitoring system ensure the passengers' safety.
Kia Seltos and Carnival: Pricing
In India, the Kia Seltos starts at Rs. 9.95 lakh and goes up to Rs. 18.19 lakh. Meanwhile, the Carnival MPV falls in the price-bracket of Rs. 29.49-34.49 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, New Delhi).
