Kia QYI compact-SUV to be launched in India next year
Kia Motors, which made its India debut this year with the Seltos, has some big plans for 2020. According to ZigWheels, the South Korean automaker will bring the QYI to our shores, following the launch of its Carnival MPV in January. Notably, the upcoming QYI will be a sub-compact SUV that will be based on its best-selling cousin, the Hyundai Venue. Here's more.
How will it look like?
Kia QYI was recently spotted testing on Indian roads. Going by the spy shots, the car will feature a compact look with a big cascading grille, roof rails, and alloy wheels. Apart from that, we can expect the crossover to come with electronically adjustable ORVMs and an all-LED lighting setup- similar to the Kia Seltos.
Inside the cabin
Not much is known about the interiors of the upcoming QYI yet. However, according to reports, it is likely to get a similar cabin as Kia Stonic, which is available in international markets. The car is expected to offer a premium five-seater cabin with a sunroof, wireless charging support as well as a touchscreen infotainment unit with UVO connected car technology.
Power and performance
The Kia QYI is likely to share its mechanical specifications with Hyundai Venue. It could get a BS6-compliant 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter petrol engines from the Venue. Apart from that, the car is expected to get a 1.5-liter diesel-powered mill from its elder sibling, the Seltos. Moreover, it will be available with both manual or automatic transmission options.
And, how much will it cost?
At present, there is no word on the pricing of Kia QYI in India. However, according to reports, it will be positioned above the Hyundai Venue, which falls under Rs. 6.5-11.11 lakh price bracket. Once launched, it will take on the likes of Tata Nexon, Ford Ecosport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue.
