Kia India reports 3.9% sales growth in May 2024
Kia Motors, a subsidiary of the South Korean Hyundai Group, has announced a year-on-year sales growth of 3.9% in India this May. The automaker sold 19,500 units of passenger vehicles during this period, slightly up from the previous year's figure of 18,766 units sold in May. This performance has enabled Kia India to surpass an export milestone of 2.5 lakh units.
Sonet leads as Kia's top-selling model
The Kia Sonet emerged as the highest-selling car for Kia India last month, with 7,433 units sold. The Seltos and Carens models followed closely, selling 6,736 units and 5,316 units, respectively. In addition to domestic sales, the company dispatched a total of 2,304 passenger vehicles to global markets during this period. This brought the total production number for May to 21,804 units.
Kia India surpasses export milestone with Seltos leading
Kia India's steady export strategy has led to the company surpassing the export milestone of 2.5 lakh units to over 100 countries. The majority of these exports were attributed to the Kia Seltos, which accounted for nearly 60% of all exports from India. The Sonet and Carens models followed, contributing 34% and 7% respectively to the company's overseas dispatches.
Kia India's aggressive strategy boosts sales
Hardeep Singh Brar, Senior Vice President and Head of Sales & Marketing at Kia India, attributed the company's performance to their aggressive strategy of introducing new competitive variants. "So far in this year, we have been aggressive in introducing new competitive variants of our models, which has contributed significantly to our sales," Brar stated. He further added that with a robust network expansion plan in place, they aim to cross the one million local sales milestone soon.
