Kia EV3 electric SUV, with 600km range, makes global debut
Kia Motors has unveiled its latest addition to the electric vehicle lineup, the EV3 electric SUV. As the fourth born-EV from the brand, it follows in the footsteps of EV9, EV6, and EV5. The new model is based on Kia's E-GMP modular platform and boasts a range of up to 600km. The EV3's launch is set to take place in South Korea in June this year, followed by Europe in late 2024, and Asian markets by early 2025.
Unique design of EV3
The exterior design of the EV3 is marked by Kia's signature 'star map' LED lighting pattern, that frames the 'tiger nose' fascia. The vehicle also sports a distinct two-box silhouette and a muscular look with chunky cladding on the bumper. These features give the EV3 a unique aesthetic, setting it apart from its electric counterparts.
What's inside Kia's latest electric SUV?
On the inside, the EV3 shares many similarities with its larger sibling, the flagship EV9. It features twin 12.3-inch floating-style infotainment screens, a band of haptic buttons, and concealed AC vents on the dashboard. The vehicle also includes a 30-inch widescreen setup and software lifted directly from the EV9, providing a seamless experience to users.
Battery and performance specifications
The EV3 comes with two battery pack options — a standard model with a 58.3kWh battery pack, and a Long-Range variant featuring an 81.4kWh battery pack offering up to 600km of range on the WLTP cycle. Both versions use a front-axle mounted electric motor that makes 201hp and 283Nm of torque, enabling a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of just 7.5 seconds. The maximum speed of the EV3 is set at 170km/h.
