Kia Motors to unveil its first dedicated EV by March
Kia's first dedicated electric vehicle will be unveiled in the first quarter of the year i.e. by March 2021. The car, codenamed as CV, will be the first model under the company's Plan S that aims to introduce 11 new EVs by 2025. It will feature a new design language, a hi-tech and upscale cabin, and shall deliver a range of over 500km.
Kia CV: At a glance
The Kia CV will have a crossover design inspired by the 'Imagine by Kia' concept car showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The upcoming vehicle should have a sloping roofline, the brand's signature 'Tiger Nose' grille, a new logo, a muscular bonnet, and sleek connected headlights. On the sides, it should be flanked by ORVMs and eye-catching alloy wheels.
Power and performance
The Kia CV will be built on Hyundai Group's Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). The car is likely to be charged in less than 20 minutes and should deliver a range of more than 500km. A high-performance variant is also on the cards.
A peek inside the cabin
Details pertaining to the interiors of the Kia CV are unknown as of now. However, it should have a spacious cabin with auto climate control and a multifunctional power steering wheel. The car should house a touchscreen infotainment console with support for the latest connectivity facilities. Passengers' safety should be ensured by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, and a rear-view camera.
What about availability?
Details related to the pricing and availability of the Kia CV will be revealed at the time of unveiling, which will happen by March. However, it is unclear if the EV will make its way to India anytime soon.
