Kia Carens registers over 50,000 bookings in India
Kia Motors has announced that the bookings for its Carens MPV, which was launched in February, have crossed the 50,000 milestone in India. The Luxury and Luxury Plus trims have attracted the bulk of bookings. Between the automatic and manual models, the latter has received more orders. On the other hand, both the petrol and diesel variants have received a balanced response.
Why does this story matter?
Kia Carens has surprised many with the overwhelming response it continues to receive from buyers. Crossing the 50,000 booking milestone within a span of some weeks is no small feat. What is most interesting about the figures released by the company is that 60% of the orders have come from Tier 1 and 2 cities. Also, the demand of high-end models is very high.
The car runs on 16-inch alloy wheels
The Kia Carens sports a muscular hood, split-LED headlights, LED fog lights, a chrome-surrounded radiator grille, and a narrow chrome bar. On the sides, it has roof rails, indicator-mounted ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, and 16-inch alloy wheels. A shark-fin antenna and wrap-around LED taillights grace the rear end. The MPV is available in eight shades, including Imperial Blue, Sparkling Silver, Gravity Gray, and Clear White.
Three engine options are offered
The Kia Carens gets three engine options: a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated petrol motor that generates 112hp/144Nm, a 1.5-liter diesel mill that churns out 112hp/250Nm, and a 1.4-liter turbo-petrol engine that makes 136hp/242Nm. The engines are mated to a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, or 7-speed DCT gearbox.
The vehicle has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment panel
The Kia Carens has a 6/7-seater cabin, featuring second-row seats with a recline function, an air purifier, an electric sunroof, roof-mounted AC vents, a wireless charger, and a multifunctional steering wheel. It packs a fully-digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment panel with Apple CarPlay support. A tire pressure monitoring system, ABS, six airbags, and electronic stability control (ESC) ensure the passengers' safety.
