2019 Tokyo Motor Show: Kawasaki showcases W800 retro-looking motorcycle
As an addition to its portfolio of W series retro-styled motorcycles, Kawasaki has introduced the W800 at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. The new motorcycle will join the company's W800 line-up, which currently comprises W800 Street and W800 Cafe models. Notably, it is likely to hit the Indian roads sometime in mid-2020. Here's all about it.
First, let's take a look at the Kawasaki W800
The new W800 looks pretty similar to the Kawasaki W1, the company's iconic motorcycle from the 1960s. The cruiser two-wheeler features a naked street design with dual exhausts, a 3D logo on the fuel tank, and an analog instrument cluster. Further, the rounded headlamp and indicators, spoked wheels, as well as heavy chrome work on the exhausts, mud-guards, and mirrors accentuate the retro feel.
Power and performance
The Kawasaki W800 is powered by 773cc parallel-twin engine, which is capable of producing 48PS of power and 62.9Nm of peak torque. The transmission duties on the motorcycle are handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox along with assist and slipper clutch.
Kawasaki W800: On the road
In the safety department, the Kawasaki W800 comes equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels, along with dual-channel ABS for better grip on the road. The motorcycle houses conventional telescopic forks on the front and dual shock absorbers on the rear to handle the suspension duties.
Will it come to India?
As of now, there is no official word on the India launch of W800. However, considering that the company sells the W800 Street model in India, we can expect the W800 retro-styled motorcycle to arrive sometime in 2020. As for the pricing, it could be positioned above W800 Street and might cost upwards of Rs. 8 lakh.
