Kawasaki W800 recalled over faulty horn harness: Details here
Japanese automaker Kawasaki has issued a recall order for 1,660 units of its W800 motorbike in the US that were manufactured between January 28, 2019, and February 15, 2022. The affected models could have a faulty horn harness, which might break and pose a safety hazard. Notably, the bike is also up for grabs in India but it has not been recalled here yet.
Why does this story matter?
Kawasaki claims that within a certain RPM, the engine vibrations in the W800 might damage the horn harness and break it. As a result, the horns may malfunction and pose a safety risk. To solve this problem, the brand's US dealerships would replace the horn, harness, and mounting bracket in the affected units for free. Owners of the vehicle should get it checked soon.
The bike has spoked wheels and a ribbed seat
The Kawasaki W800 sits on a double cradle high tensile steel frame and has a sloping fuel tank, a single-piece seat with a ribbed pattern, twin chromed peashooter exhausts, high-set handlebars, and a circular headlight as well as mirrors. The motorcycle packs a semi-digital instrument console, an all-LED setup for lighting, and rides on wire-spoked wheels. It can store 15 liters of fuel.
It is fueled by a 51hp, 773cc engine
The Kawasaki W800 draws power from a 773cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The motor generates a maximum power of 51.3hp at 6,500rpm and a peak torque of 62.9Nm at 4,800rpm.
It gets twin rear shock absorbers
To ensure the safety of the rider, the Kawasaki W800 is equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels, along with dual-channel ABS to avoid skidding on roads while braking. Suspension duties on the motorcycle are taken care of by lengthy forks on the front side and twin shock absorbers on the rear end.
Kawasaki W800: Pricing
In India, the Kawasaki W800 retro-styled bike carries a price tag of Rs. 7.33 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The two-wheeler is up for grabs on our shores only in limited numbers.
