Jeep Meridian SUV announced for India; launch by mid-2022
Jeep has announced that its upcoming three-row SUV for India will be known as Meridian. It will debut by mid-2022. Separately, the brand has shared an image of the vehicle's camouflaged version. As for the highlights, the car will flaunt a Compass-inspired look and shall have a spacious cabin loaded with tech-based features. It will draw power from a 2.0-liter diesel engine.

The Jeep Meridian is sold in some South American markets as the Commander and it will be the company's first 7-seater SUV in India. The brand claims that the car will offer a combination of sophistication and class-leading performance. It should be priced competitively and will take on rivals such as Hyundai ALCAZAR, MG Hector Plus, Kia Carens, and Tata Safari.
The car will have a seven-slot grille and roof rails
The Jeep Meridian will sport a muscular hood, a sleek grille with seven slots, narrow LED headlights, and a wide air dam. On the sides, it will be flanked by roof rails, blacked-out B-pillars, ORVMs, squared wheel arches, and designer alloy wheels. The rear end will have a more upright stance, featuring a window wiper and sleek taillight clusters.
It might run on a 168hp, 2.0-liter engine
The Jeep Meridian is likely to draw power from a 2.0-liter diesel engine linked to a 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic gearbox. In the Compass, the mill puts out a maximum power of 168hp and a peak torque of 350Nm.
The four-wheeler will get seven seats and a panoramic sunroof
The Jeep Meridian will have a spacious three-row cabin with seven seats, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charging facility, premium upholstery, and parking sensors. Multiple airbags, ABS, a rear-view camera, and EBD will ensure the safety of the passengers. The SUV will also pack a touchscreen infotainment console with support for the latest connectivity options and a premium audio system.
Jeep Meridian: Pricing and availability
In India, the Jeep Meridian will carry a premium over the Compass SUV, which begins at Rs. 17.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The car will be built at the brand's Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra.
