What's the story
Jeep is working to launch a bigger seven-seat variant of its SUV, the Compass.
A test mule of the upcoming car, which is internally known as Low-D, was spotted in Brazil, giving us a fair idea of how the larger variant of the SUV would look like.
The company might launch the car sometime in 2021.
Here are more details.
Exteriors
A look at the upcoming SUV
Going by the spy shots, the seven-seat variant of the Compass is likely to retain the sportier look of the existing five-seat model. Further, it is expected to come with a slightly longer wheelbase to accommodate the third row of seats.
Apart from that, the car could also offer roof rails, alloy wheels, dual exhausts, and an all-LED lighting setup.
Interiors
Inside the cabin
Not much is known about the interiors of the upcoming Compass yet. However, we can expect the car to come with a premium cabin with hi-tech features.
It will get a fully-digital instrument cluster along with a touchscreen infotainment system.
Moreover, it should offer safety features like driver and passenger airbags, ABS with EBD, and more.
Engine
Power and performance
The seven-seater Compass will reportedly be powered by a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder 16V engine which comes mated to a six-speed manual or a nine-speed ZF automatic transmission. This engine is capable of producing 180bhp of maximum power.
The upcoming car will also come with a new steering gear as well as an updated suspension system.
Availability
Will it come to India?
Going by the reports, the American automaker will launch the seven-seater Compass sometime in 2021. However, there is no word on its availability in India at present.
As for the pocket pinch, it is likely to come at a higher price than the current Compass model which falls under Rs. 14.99-23.11 lakh price bracket.
