Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo concept, with futuristic looks, goes official
Jaguar Land Rover has showcased a new concept car called Vision Gran Turismo for the Gran Turismo 7 video game. It is unlikely to head to production. As for the highlights, the four-wheeler has a futuristic look and offers a single-seater cabin. Under the hood, it is fueled by an electric powertrain and attains a top speed of over 320km/h.
Why does this story matter?
Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo is an open-top version of the 2019 Vision Gran Turismo concept and draws styling cues from the Jaguar D-Type. If it heads to production in the future, its looks and features will appeal to a lot of buyers. Notably, Jaguar is one of the 26 brands to have showcased a Vision Gran Turismo car, besides Lamborghini, Porsche, Bugatti, and McLaren.
The car has L-shaped headlights and a dorsal fin
Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo has an open-top, a muscular bonnet, L-shaped headlamps, LED fog lights, a prominent front splitter, wraparound windscreen, and a rear-view mirror in the car's center. It is flanked by air scoops and designer wheels. It also has a dorsal fin similar to that of the 1950s Jaguar D-Type Le Mans model with an LED-illuminated Union Jack etched into it.
It gets a bucket-type seat and a steering wheel
The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo has a single-seater cabin with a steering wheel and a bucket-type seat. However, it is unclear whether the vehicle also has a center console, touchscreen infotainment console, digital instrument cluster, multiple airbags, rear-view camera, ABS, and EBD.
It can accelerate from 0-100km/h in less than two seconds
Under the hood, the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo concept roadster draws power from three electric motors linked to a Lithium-ion battery pack. The electric powertrain puts out a combined output of 1,004hp and a peak torque of 1,194Nm. The vehicle can sprint from 0-100km/h in less than two seconds and attain a top speed of more than 320km/h.
What about its availability?
The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo roadster is a concept vehicle and will not head to production. However, it is available to players of Gran Turismo 7 now. Also, the four-wheeler's design elements may make their way to other cars of the company in the future.
