India's mid-size SUV sales in March: Mahindra, Tata, and more

Mid-size SUV sales in India, experienced a significant year-on-year (YoY) growth of 14% in March 2024, despite a slight monthly dip of 2.20%.
The top ten mid-size SUVs played a crucial role in this growth, with their combined sales reaching 29,719 units.
This figure represents a substantial increase of around 13.74% compared to the same period last year.
Top performer
Mahindra Scorpio leads mid-size SUV sales
Mahindra Scorpio (N and Classic) emerged as the top-selling model in the mid-size SUV segment for March 2024.
The model recorded a total of 15,151 unit sales, marking an impressive YoY growth of 72.41%.
Despite a modest month-on-month (MoM) increase of 0.66%, this strong performance allowed the Scorpio to capture over half the market share at 50.98%.

Mahindra XUV700 outperforms competitors
The Mahindra XUV700 also made significant strides in March 2024, outperforming competitors Tata Harrier and Safari.
The XUV700 saw its sales rise by 29.45% YoY to reach a total of 6,611 units.
This robust performance also marked a MoM growth of 0.99%, further solidifying the model's position in the mid-size SUV market.

Tata Safari and Harrier witness mixed results
Tata Motors' Safari and Harrier also featured on the best-selling mid-size SUVs list last month.
The Safari recorded a YoY growth of 9.15%, selling a total of 2,063 units. However, it experienced a significant MoM dip of 22.09%.
Despite experiencing both YoY and MoM declines of nearly 20%, the Tata Harrier remains hopeful for improved sales in the future.
Market challenges
MG Hector and Hyundai Alcazar face sales decline
MG Hector and Hector Plus experienced a significant drop in sales by over half at 54.03%, selling only 1,887 units in March 2024.
Despite this, it did see a slight MoM growth of 3.34%.
Hyundai Alcazar also faced a challenging month, with sales dropping by 43.63% YoY to just 1,420 units in the same period.
