Indian FTR 1200 S-series India launch set for August 19
US-based Indian Motorcycle is all set to launch the FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica in India on August 19. Both the bikes are inspired by the championship-winning FTR 750 motorcycle and share same mechanical specifications. Notably, the bookings for the motorcycles are underway via company's dealerships across the country at a token amount of Rs. 2 lakh. Here's more.
Let's take a look at both motorcycles
Both the Indian FTR 1200 S and 1200 S Race Replica share the same naked street look with a dual-tone paint job, retro-styled rounded headlamps as well as rounded mirrors, and dual exhausts. However, the Race Replica variant differentiates itself from the standard FTR 1200 S, as it comes with the FTR 750's livery.
Here's a look at the electronic features
Both the Indian FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica sport a 4.3-inch touchscreen infotainment panel which can be paired with your smartphone via Bluetooth. For lighting, both the motorcycles get an all-LED lighting setup including headlamps, side indicators, and taillamps. Further, both models support USB charging and offer three riding modes: Sport, Standard, and Rain.
Power and performance
Both the Indian FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica are powered by the same 1203cc V-Twin engine which is tuned to produce 123bhp of maximum power and 118Nm of peak torque. Further, the engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox along with assist and slip clutch for easy gear shifting.
What about braking and suspension?
Both the Indian FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica come equipped with Brembo-sourced 320mm disc brakes on the front and 265mm disc brakes on the rear wheels along with dual-channel ABS. To handle suspension duties, the motorcycles get Sachs' package which includes fully adjustable USD forks for the front and a monoshock suspension for the rear.
Finally, what's the pocket-pinch?
To recall, the Indian Motorcycle had announced the prices of both motorcycles in December 2018. As per the announcement, the Indian FTR 1200 S costs Rs. 14.99 lakh and the FTR 1200 S Race Replica model costs Rs. 15.49 lakh. However, it is still unclear if the company will stick to the previous prices after launch or not.
