India-specific 2020 Hyundai i20's mechanical specifications revealed
Hyundai is working on launching the 2020 edition of its family car, the i20, in India sometime in mid-2020. The car will borrow its styling cues and features from the international-spec i20 that was unveiled last month. Now, a ZigWheels report has claimed that the India-specific model will be offered with 1.0-liter turbo-petrol and 1.5-liter diesel engine options. Here are more details.
A look at the 2020 Hyundai i20
As mentioned before, the India-specific 2020 Hyundai i20 is likely to borrow its styling cues from the international model. It will come with a compact yet sporty look featuring a muscular-looking front bonnet with sculpted lines, a blacked-out grille, and a sporty side profile with blacked-out B-pillars and diamond-cut alloy wheels. Further, the hatchback will house projector headlamps with LED DRLs and LED taillights.
Inside the cabin
The 2020 Hyundai i20 will offer a luxurious five-seater cabin featuring wireless charging pad, climate control, and a multifunctional steering wheel with cruise control. The car will house a floating touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, as well as Hyundai's BlueLink connected car technology. Further, it will get six airbags, ABS with EBD, and a reverse camera with parking sensors.
Power and performance
According to ZigWheels, the 2020 Hyundai i20 will be offered with BS6-compliant 1.0-liter T-GDI turbo-petrol or a 1.5-liter CRDI diesel engine. The former produces 120PS of maximum power, while the latter churns out 100PS. Besides that, the car could also get a 1.2-liter petrol engine that makes 83PS of power. For transmission duties, the hatchback will get a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox.
And, how much will it cost?
There is no official word on the pricing of the 2020 Hyundai i20 in India yet. However, looking at the updates, it is likely to carry a significant premium over the BS4 model, which starts at Rs. 6.50 lakh in the country. Once launched, the family car will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, and Toyota Glanza.
