Hyundai NEXO gets approval in India; may launch by year-end
South Korean automaker Hyundai has received type approval for its NEXO fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) in India. It is available in the international markets and will reportedly be launched here by the end of 2021. The car sports a cascading grille and narrow headlamps
The Hyundai NEXO has a sporty design, featuring a sloping roofline, a cascading grille, a small shark fin, sleek headlights, and sharp-looking wrap-around LED taillamps. On the sides, it is flanked by roof rails, blacked-out B-pillars, ORVMs, and designer dual-tone alloy wheels. As for the dimensions, the car has a wheelbase of 2,790mm and a length of 4,670mm.
The vehicle has a spacious tech-loaded cabin
The Hyundai NEXO has a spacious cabin with eco-friendly upholstery, a sunroof, ventilated and heated front seats, a 2-spoke multifunctional steering wheel with cruise control. It houses a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment console with support for the latest connectivity facilities. Multiple airbags, blind-spot monitoring, remote parking assist, and lane follow assist ensure the passengers' safety.
The vehicle has a range of 666km
Hyundai NEXO packs a 95kW fuel cell, a 40kW battery, and an electric motor. The powertrain delivers a combined output of 161hp/395Nm. It allows the car to sprint from 0-100km/h in 9.2 seconds and hit a top-speed of 179km/h. The vehicle has three tanks, which store 156-liter of hydrogen in total. This capacity allows a driving range of 666km (based on WLTP cycle).
Hyundai NEXO: Pricing and availability
The Hyundai NEXO will reportedly be brought to India as a completely built unit by the end of this year. As for the pocket-pinch, it should sport a price-figure of around Rs. 65 lakh (ex-showroom).
