Hyundai's all-electric SUV Kona receives a massive price cut
Hyundai Kona, the recently launched electric SUV, has received a price cut of Rs. 1.59 lakh in India. With this price revision, the SUV is now available at Rs. 23.71 lakh in the country as against its introductory launch price of Rs. 25.30 lakh. Notably, the new prices will be effective from this month itself. Here is our roundup.
What's the reason behind the price cut?
Since its launch, the Hyundai Kona has received a decent response with over 150 bookings in just three weeks. However, the company has slashed the prices of Kona because the Indian government has reduced the GST rate on electric vehicles from 12% to 5%.

To recall, the Hyundai Kona sports a distinctive closed front grille with charging point concealed behind it, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and a blacked-out treatment on claddings underneath the tailgate as well as roof rails. The SUV features an all-LED lighting setup including headlamps with DRLs, fog lamps, and taillights. Moreover, it is offered in White, Silver, Blue, and Black color options.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the Hyundai Kona comes with electrically adjustable seats wrapped in leather upholstery and a multifunctional power steering wheel. Talking about electronic features, the SUV sports an 8-inch touchscreen panel with satellite navigation, wireless charging support, electric sunroof, and heads up display. Furthermore, it also gets connectivity features like real-time traffic updates, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Power and performance
The Hyundai Kona packs a 100kW motor which produces 131bhp power and 395Nm of peak torque. Under the hood, it packs a 39.2kWh battery which promises a range of 452km and can get fully charged in seven to eight hours using a normal charger. However, there is also a fast charger which can quickly refuel it by upto 80% in less than an hour.
Hyundai Kona: On the road
The Hyundai Kona comes equipped with ABS along with EBD, ESC and traction control for better grip on the road. The SUV gets some advanced safety features including hill assist control, tire pressure monitoring system, blind-spot detection, and rear parking sensors among others. Lastly, the Kona gets six airbags along with child safety locks.
