Facelifted Hyundai Alcazar's India launch postponed to late 2024
Hyundai's much-awaited Alcazar (facelift) launch has been deferred to the festive season of 2024, as reported by Autocar India. Initially slated for a mid-2024 release, the updated SUV is now expected to debut between September and October. This decision comes shortly after Hyundai's recent update of its popular Creta model. The delay is attributed to the high inventory levels of the current Alcazar, prompting Hyundai to postpone the launch of the updated version by a few months.
Sales contrast between Alcazar and Creta
The current Alcazar model has not been as successful in sales as Hyundai's Creta, with monthly sales averaging around 1,500 units. This is a stark contrast to the over 10,000 units of the Creta sold each month. To clear existing stock of the slower-selling Alcazar, Hyundai has decided to delay the launch of its facelifted version. The upcoming Alcazar will feature updates similar to those seen in the new Creta.
Anticipated changes in the upcoming Alcazar
The forthcoming Alcazar will flaunt a split headlamp set-up, a brand-new front grille and bumper, a redesigned tailgate featuring a wraparound style, and connected taillamps arranged horizontally. The interior design will also be revamped, featuring a new dashboard with a connected-screen layout. Despite these cosmetic updates, no modifications are planned for the vehicle's engine or transmission systems.
How much will it cost?
The pricing and availability details of the 2024 Hyundai Alcazar in India, will be disclosed at the time of its launch. However, it should cost more than the current model which starts at ₹16.77 lakh (ex-showroom).
