Entry-level Hyundai Creta variants get a powerful 1.6-liter diesel engine
Hyundai has introduced a 1.6-liter diesel engine option with the entry-level E+ and EX variants of its popular crossover, the Creta. This powerful motor, which was earlier exclusive to the premium trims, will be available only with manual transmission in these base-end models. Notably, the prices of the updated variants have not been shared by the company yet. Here's more.
Hyundai Creta: At a glance
The Hyundai Creta features a compact design with hexagonal cascading grille, blacked-out front bumper as well as wheel arches, and body-colored door handles. The car also gets electronically adjustable ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, and silver-colored skid plates. For lighting, it houses projector headlamps with LED DRLs, turn indicators, and LED taillights.
Inside the cabin
Inside, both the E+ and EX variants of Hyundai Creta sport a five-seater cabin with fabric upholstery, rear AC vents, and tilt function for the steering wheel. Apart from the aforementioned features, the EX model also gets a height-adjustable driver seat, front USB charger, multifunctional steering wheel, rear center armrest with cup holders, a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and Bluetooth connectivity.
What about performance and safety features?
Both the entry-level variants are powered by a 1.6-liter diesel engine, which is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This unit is capable of producing 126bhp of power and 260Nm of peak torque. As for safety features, both models get dual-front airbags, ABS, EBD, seatbelt reminder, rear parking sensors, day/night adaptive IRVMs (Inside Rear View Mirror), and high-speed alert system.
And, what is the pricing?
Hyundai has not revealed the prices of updated E+ and EX Creta models as of now. However, looking at the engine upgrade, we expect the new models to carry a little premium over the existing variants. At present, the Hyundai Creta starts at Rs. 9.99 lakh and goes upto Rs. 15.67 lakh.
