Honda's AI-driven app aids visually impaired travelers: How it works
Honda has introduced the Honda Scenic Audio app, which is designed to enrich the travel experiences of visually impaired passengers. The app utilizes cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), satellite imagery, location-based targeting, and meteorological data. This innovative tool provides a real-time audio description of the surrounding landscape outside the vehicle. The development of this pioneering application is a collaborative effort with the Howe Innovation Center at Perkins School for the Blind.
App offers more than just descriptions of scenery
The Honda Scenic Audio app offers more than just a simple narration of the surrounding environment. It incorporates literary elements like descriptive adjectives, identifiable sounds, and comparisons of elevations and landscapes. The app even provides current temperature readings to give users a comprehensive understanding of their surroundings. Currently, the app is in its beta-testing phase and is being evaluated by members of the visually impaired community for valuable feedback and insights.

Lacey further commended Honda for its leadership in developing inclusive auto experiences and expressed excitement about collaborating on this project. This endorsement underscores the potential impact of Honda's initiative on enhancing travel experiences for visually impaired individuals.
