Tokyo Motor Show: 2020 Honda Jazz hatchback breaks cover
Honda has unveiled the 2020 edition of its popular hatchback, the Jazz, at the Tokyo Motor Show. The fourth-generation model debuts the company's 2-motor hybrid technology that combines a fuel-powered engine and lithium-ion batteries to offer improved performance as well as better mileage. Notably, the car is likely to hit Indian roads by 2020-end or early 2021. Here's our roundup.
2020 Honda Jazz: At a glance
The 2020 Honda Jazz (also known as Fit in some international markets) comes with a bunch of design tweaks over the outgoing model. The car now sports a narrower grille surrounded by a chrome frame, blacked-out B-pillars, cross-sectional front pillars, and LED headlamps with mounted DRLs. It also gets a cross-hatch variant, the Fit Crosstar, that comes with dual-tone paintwork.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the 2020 Jazz sports a dual-tone 5-seater cabin with a two-spoke multifunctional steering wheel and foldable seats. As for electronic features, the car houses a fully-digital instrument cluster along with a comparatively bigger touchscreen infotainment unit. The hatchback also gets standard safety features like dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, and parking cameras as well as sensors.
The company has not revealed details about the engine's specifications
Honda has not revealed the details about the engine's specifications and power figures of the 2020 Jazz yet. However, we know that the hatchback will come equipped with an in-house 2-motor hybrid system technology. In India, the car is likely to be offered with 1.2-liter petrol and 1.5-liter diesel engines. Moreover, it will be available in both manual and automatic transmission options.
And, what will be the pricing?
Looking at the updates, we expect the 2020 Honda Jazz to carry a little premium over the current-generation model, which starts at Rs. 7.45 lakh in India. Once launched, it will lock horns with Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, and Volkswagen Polo.
