Honda City RS Turbo, with a sportier design, breaks cover
Japanese automaker Honda has unveiled a new RS Turbo version of its popular sedan, the City, at an event in Thailand. The new version shares its mechanical specifications with the recently-unveiled 2020 Honda City but comes with several cosmetic enhancements that give it a sportier look. Here's all you need to know about it.
Honda City RS Turbo: At a glance
The RS Turbo version looks largely similar to the standard City model. However, it comes with several sporty elements such as different front and rear bumpers, bigger 16-inch alloy wheels, and a rear spoiler mounted on the tailgate. The car also gets a blacked-out treatment on the ORVMs, shark-fin antenna, and B-pillars. Furthermore, it offers an all-LED setup for lighting.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the Honda City RS Turbo offers a five-seater blacked-out cabin with chrome highlights on the AC vents, red accents on the instrument panel, and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel. The sedan features leather seats with red stitching and an 8-inch infotainment system with Honda Connect connectivity feature. Besides that, it also gets safety features like six airbags, multi-angle rearview camera, and more.
Power and performance
The Honda City RS Turbo draws power from a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine which comes mated to an automatic CVT system. The unit churns out 122bhp of power and 173Nm of peak torque. However, the India-specific City is likely to come with BS6-compliant 1.5-liter petrol hybrid and 1.5-liter diesel engine options.
Finally, what about pricing and availability?
As for the pocket pinch, the Honda City RS Turbo is priced at THB 739,000 (approximately Rs. 17.50 lakh) in Thailand. There is no word on the availability of the aforementioned car in India as of now. However, reports suggest that the Japanese automaker could bring the fifth-generation Honda City to our shores sometime in mid-2020.
