Bookings for BS6-compliant Honda City (petrol variant) start
In an attempt to meet the upcoming emission norms, Honda is working to launch the BS6 compatible variant of Honda City (petrol version). Now, Autocar has revealed that select dealerships have already started accepting bookings for the upcoming sedan, hinting at its imminent launch. Notably, the company is also likely to introduce the BS6-compliant diesel model of the sedan sometime around April 2020.
First, here's a look at the car
The upcoming Honda City is likely to retain the design of the outgoing model. Hence, it will feature a sporty design with a cascading grille, trapezoidal air-intakes, and 15-inch alloy wheels (17-inch on top variants). The sedan will also get electronically adjustable ORVMs with mounted indicators, chrome finished door handles and projector headlamps with LED DRLs.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the sedan will house a five-seater cabin with leatherette upholstery, panoramic sunroof, and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel with telescopic adjustment. The car will also get a 7-inch infotainment panel with Bluetooth-compatible sound system, automatic AC, and cruise control. Furthermore, it will come with a bunch of safety features including upto six airbags, rear-view camera, and parking sensors.
Power and performance
The upcoming Honda City will pack a BS6-compliant 1.5-liter petrol engine which will produce 119bhp of maximum power- same as BS4 model. This unit will come mated to a manual gearbox as standard and there is no official word on the CVT option yet.
And, what about pricing?
The upcoming Honda City will reportedly be offered in four variants: SV, V, VX, and ZX. As of now, there is no official word on its pricing but reports suggest it will come at a premium of Rs. 35,000-40,000 over the outgoing model. Presently, the Honda City's range falls under Rs 9.81-14.16 lakh price bracket in India.
