Honda City (hybrid) to arrive in India on April 14
Japanese automaker Honda will introduce the hybrid variant of its City sedan in India on April 14. It should be up for grabs here in May. The model might flaunt cosmetic changes and offer a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including adaptive cruise control. It will be fueled by a petrol-hybrid powertrain that puts out 107.5hp of power.
Why does this story matter?
The City e:HEV will be Honda's first mass-market hybrid model on our shores. It will offer better looks, more features, and improved performance as compared to the current model. The new model is expected to be priced competitively and should draw the attention of a lot of buyers. The competition in the market will also be raised to a great extent.
The car will have LED headlights and alloy wheels
The Honda City e:HEV will have a sloping roofline, a sculpted bonnet, a honeycomb mesh grille, swept-back LED headlights with DRLs and aggressive-looking bumpers. It will be flanked by black B-pillars, indicator-mounted ORVMs, and multi-spoke alloy wheels. A shark-fin antenna, wrap-around LED taillights, and a bootlid spoiler will be available on the rear end. Dimensions-wise, it should have a wheelbase of 2,600mm.
It will deliver a fuel-efficiency of around 30km/liter
Honda City e:HEV will pack a 1.5-liter petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a CVT gearbox. The setup will deliver a combined output of 107.5hp/253Nm. The car is expected to return a mileage of around 30km/liter.
The sedan might get six airbags and five seats
The Honda City e:HEV will have a 5-seater cabin with auto climate control, rear AC vents, cruise control, key-less entry, and a power steering wheel. It should pack an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment panel with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Automatic emergency braking, six airbags, automatic high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist should ensure the safety of the passengers.
How much will it cost?
The pricing and availability details of Honda City e:HEV in India will be disclosed at the time of its launch. However, it should cost around Rs. 2.5 lakh more than the petrol-only model which falls in the price-bracket of Rs. 11.23-15.18 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).
