Honda CBR500R to hit Indian roads this year: Details here
Motorcycle lovers rejoice! Japanese automaker Honda is all set to bring its 500cc line-up in India this year. As part of the plan, the company's much-loved sports tourer, the CBR500R, would finally grace our shores. The sports bike features an impressive design, hi-tech features, a powerful engine, and is expected to be priced around Rs. 5 lakh in the country. Here is our roundup.
The Honda CBR500R features a head-turning look
The Honda CBR500R sits on a steel diamond frame and gets a stunning sporty design with sharp-looking fairings, a muscular fuel tank, and attractive graphics work as well as a paint job. The motorcycle comes with an up-swept exhaust and blacked-out alloy wheels with body-colored accents. Apart from that, the sports tourer also gets a fully-digital instrument cluster and all-LED fitments for lighting.
Plus, there's immense power
Under the hood, the Honda CBR500R draws power from a 471cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with a slip and assist clutch. The motor is capable of producing around 48PS of maximum power at 8,600rpm and 43Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. Furthermore, the sports tourer promises a mileage of 28.6kmpl.
What about safety and suspension setup?
In the safety department, the Honda CBR500R comes equipped with 320mm disc brake up front, 240mm disc brake on the rear, along with dual-channel ABS for improved braking efficiency. The suspension duties on the motorcycle are taken care of by conventional telescopic forks on the front and a 5-step pre-load adjustable mono-shock unit on the rear.
And, how much will it cost?
Honda will bring the CBR500R to India via CKD (completely-knocked-down) route. As for the pocket-pinch, the motorcycle is likely to be priced around Rs. 4.99 lakh. However, the Japanese automaker could launch the localized version of the sports tourer on our shores at a comparatively cheaper price at a later stage.
