Honda launches its first BS6-compliant two-wheeler in India
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has launched its first BS6-compliant two-wheeler, the 2019 Activa 125, in India. Priced at Rs. 64,790, the new model is approximately Rs. 7,000 costlier than the outgoing model. Meanwhile, the new Activa, offered in Standard, Alloy, and Deluxe variants, is touted to be 13% more fuel efficient than its predecessor. Here's our roundup.
First, a look at the 2019 Activa 125
The new Activa 125 features a revamped look sporting chrome garnishing on the front hood as well as side skirts, blacked-out mirrors, and external fuel lid. Interestingly, the ignition key now doubles up for opening the seat and fuel lid. Further, the scooter sports a digital-analog instrument console, LED headlamps with DRLs, turn indicators, and LED taillamp.
Power and performance
The 2019 Honda Activa 125 is powered by a BS6-compliant 124cc fuel-injected engine which is capable of producing 8.1bhp of power at 6,500 rpm; it is marginally less than the previous BS4-compliant engine that used to make 8.52bhp of maximum power.
What about safety and suspension setup?
The 2019 Honda Activa 125 comes equipped with drum brake on the front wheel (disc brake as optional), drum brake on the rear wheel, and combined braking system (CBS) for better road handling. The scooter houses telescopic fork suspension on the front and a monoshock unit on the rear to handle suspension duties.

As for the pocket pinch, the 2019 Honda Activa 125 costs Rs. 67,490 for the Standard model, Rs. 70,990 for the Alloy variant, and Rs. 74,990 for the top-spec Deluxe model. At this price, it goes up against rivals like Hero Maestro Edge 125, Suzuki Access 125, and TVS Jupiter.
