Hero Eddy electric scooter debuts in India at Rs. 72,000
Homegrown automaker Hero Electric has launched its Eddy low-speed scooter for short commutes in India. As for the highlights, the two-wheeler has an attractive design and offers lots of features including an e-locking system, Follow Me headlamps, and Find My Bike. It is fueled by an electric powertrain and promises a range of up to 85km on a single charge.
Why does this story matter?
The Hero Eddy is an entry-level electric scooter that is ideal for commuting short distances. Buyers do not require a driver's license or have to get the vehicle registered. In our market, the two-wheeler undercuts most of the popular e-scooters when it comes to pricing as well as performance. It should attract quite a few customers on our shores.
The scooter has a USB socket and pillion backrest
The Hero Eddy has a headlight-mounted front apron, a flat footboard, high-set handlebars, a stepped-up single-piece seat with a pillion backrest, and a pillion grab rail. The scooter packs an all-LED setup for lighting, a USB charging port, and a digital instrument console. It rides on 12-inch alloys wheels and is offered in Yellow and Light Blue color options.
It attains a top-speed of 25km/h
The Hero Eddy packs a 250W brushless DC motor linked to a 51.2V/30Ah battery pack which can be charged in four to five hours. The vehicle hits a top-speed of 25km/h and promises a range of up to 85km per charge.
It gets telescopic front forks
To ensure the safety of the rider, the Hero Eddy electric scooter is equipped with drum brakes on both the front and rear wheels. However, there is no ABS for better handling on the roads. Suspension duties on the scooter are taken care of by telescopic forks on the front side and a shock absorber on the rear end.
Hero Eddy: Pricing
In India, the Hero Eddy electric scooter sports a price-figure of Rs. 72,000 (ex-showroom). Its on-road price will not go up by too much as the two-wheeler does not require any registration.
