Tata Motors reports 12% sales increase in April 2024
Tata Motors has reported a significant 12% increase in total sales for both passenger and commercial vehicles in April 2024. The company's data reveals that it sold a total of 77,521 units across domestic and international markets, marking a substantial rise from the previous year's figure of 59,599 units. This growth trend was also reflected in the domestic market with sales reaching up to 76,399 units, up by 12% from the previous year.
Modest growth in PV category
In the passenger vehicle sector, Tata Motors reported a modest 2% year-on-year increase in domestic sales for April. The company sold a total of 47,883 units during this period, slightly up from the 47,007 units retailed in the same month of the previous year. The company's diverse range of cars includes popular models such as Nexon, Punch, Tiago, Harrier, Altroz, Tigor, and Safari. However, exports remained steady at just 100 units.
Slight dip in Tata Motors' EV sales
Despite the overall growth in passenger vehicle sales, Tata Motors' electric vehicle (EV) sales experienced a slight dip. The company's EV range, which includes models like Nexon.ev, Tiago,ev, Tigor.ev, and Punch.ev, accounted for a total of 6,364 units sold domestically and internationally last month. This represents a minor decrease of 2% from the 6,516 units sold during the same period in April 2023.
Tata Motors dominates CV sector
Tata Motors continues to lead in the commercial vehicle sector, with a robust line-up of vehicles across various categories. The company held a market share of 35.7% in FY24, selling a total of 359,499 units during this period. In April alone, Tata Motors reported strong growth across all segments of commercial vehicles, with total domestic CV sales reaching up to 28,516 units. This marks a significant 33% increase compared to the 21,507 units sold in April 2023.
