Want to buy a Lamborghini in India? Wait till 2028
What's the story
Lamborghini's supercars have emerged as a popular pick among India's rich buyers, filling the order book until 2027.
The post-pandemic demand for luxury cars has helped many carmakers, including Lamborghini.
The company's offerings in India include the Huracan, Urus, and Revuelto. They are priced between ₹4-8.89 crore (ex-showroom), excluding road tax and other local taxes.
Market growth
Indian market: Young and promising
Stephan Winkelmann, the Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, sees India as a valuable asset with limitless future potential.
He said the average age of Lamborghini buyers in India is under 40 years, making it their youngest customer base in the world after China.
This trend mirrors India's position as one of the world's fastest-growing economies and its burgeoning luxury car market.
Expansion
Lamborghini's record sales and future plans
In India, Lamborghini recorded its best-ever sales in 2024, selling 113 units.
The sales were 10% higher than the previous year's figures and the first time the brand crossed three digits in sales in the country.
The company now intends to increase its dealership count in India where its Urus SUV is one of its top-selling models.
Market dominance
Urus leads Lamborghini's sales in India
The Urus makes up for half of Lamborghini's total sales in India, with order books filled for the next 18 months.
This trend reflects the global shift toward luxury cars among younger buyers.
Both Lamborghini and Mercedes-Maybach plan to expand their presence in Indian markets to further boost sales.
However, despite these plans, luxury cars still make up only a small fraction (1%) of India's annual vehicle market of four million vehicles per year.
