Ford celebrates Mustang's 60th anniversary with special edition package
US automaker Ford, is marking the 60th anniversary of its iconic Mustang model, with a special edition release. The celebration will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the new trim, known as the 60th Anniversary Package, will be revealed. This package primarily focuses on enhancing the car's aesthetics, while maintaining a balance between subtlety and flamboyance.
It features a vintage-inspired design
The 60th Anniversary Package's standout feature is its wheels. The 20-inch wheels showcase a minimalist five-spoke pattern, inspired by the 1965 Mustang designs. This design choice offers a refreshing contrast to the intricate "snowflake" wheel designs commonly seen today.
The 60th anniversary Mustang honors classic design elements
The special edition Mustang pays tribute to the 1965 model with design elements like the 5.0 badges, side stripes, and the GT badge on the trunk. The front end features a unique grille with a vintage mesh design, and silver accents on the nostrils. Additionally, smoked headlamps from the Mustang Nite Pony package, and glossy side mirror caps that resemble chrome, are included in this package.
Limited color palette and interior options
The color options for this special Mustang are limited to white, Race Red, and Vapor Blue. The side stripe can be either red or silver. Inside the car, customers can choose from gray, red, or black interiors. A serialized 60th Anniversary badge adorns the instrument panel as a unique touch to this special edition model.
Special Mustang retains standard mechanical specifications
Despite its unique exterior, the new Mustang maintains the same mechanical specifications as a standard Mustang GT. It is powered by a 5.0-liter, V8 engine that produces 480hp, and drives the rear wheels through a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic gearbox. However, this package is exclusive to GT Premium trim, and does not extend to EcoBoost or standard GT models.
